Letter from Nan and Grandpa

To our darling grandson Cameron,

Grandpa and I were so excited when we knew that you were on the way! We remembered what it was like when your dad was born, and knowing how active and busy you were inside your mum’s womb, reminded us of our son and his bustling ways! We started to think about what we would do with our first grandson – reading favourite stories like “Where The Wild Things Are”, “Winnie The Pooh” (the proper A.A.Milne version!) and “Dad and Dave, on our Selection” (when you got a bit older!). We would sing the songs we sang to your dad, pray with you and tell you about our loving heavenly Father who loves you even more than we do! We would watch you explore our world, begin to smile, play and talk……we imagined that you would be an early talker like your dad! Grandpa was planning to show you his tools and Nan was looking forward to seeing him playing the funny tickling game he played with your dad and aunties. We bought a new camera and began to think about making our place safe for you.

Best of all, we loved watching your parents’ joy as they prepared for your arrival! Your dad was so proud of your mum and the growing bump that was Cameron Angus Mason! We were so happy for them both. The anticipation of seeing them as your parents – holding you, feeding you, loving and caring for you was wonderful!

Now we are so, so sad that this is not to be. We know that God has other plans for us all, and that you are in a much better place. We feel terribly sad for our children, your parents, who are missing you so much and hurting so badly. Your great grandparents, Nanna and Doc, cried when they heard the terrible news that you had died. They were so looking forward to your arrival, it was going to be such a happy event in their old age. You have a big family of great aunts and uncles, second cousins and their children who you would have played with as you grew up. Your aunties, Sue and Jess with Uncle Mark, are so sad.

We will never forget you Cameron. We will share our memories of you with your younger siblings and cousins, and we look forward to being with you in heaven for eternity. This will be when true life begins and we will be all together for evermore with Jesus!

From your Grandpa and Nan. xoxxoxxoxoxoxxo
